FAQs and Jerk Answers
- Airfares are not guaranteed until the ticket is issued.
If the airfare changes by more than $1.00, we'll contact you before issuing your ticket.
If the airfare changes less than $1.00 we will not contact you.
- Nicknames are bad for airline reservations! Don't make a
reservation using a nickname! All reservations must be made in the exact name of the
traveler. Airport Security requires that the name on the ticket must exactly match your
Photo ID/ Passport.
- We reserve the right to cancel any reservation (prior to
ticketing) that appears fraudulent.
- We reserve the right to request additional information for
any reservation that appears questionable or fraudulent.
- Legal Stuff: Every country determines who
gets to enter their country. You will need a passport. You might need a visa, proof of
required shots, etc.
TheTravelJerk.com takes no responsibility
for determining passenger eligibility to enter (or transit) any country. Purchasing a
ticket from TheTravelJerk.com does not
guarantee the traveler's ability to enter any country.
Appropriate travel documentation is the sole requirement of the passenger.
The passenger assumes all responsibility for any costs incurred if boarding is delayed
or denied by an airline, country, or government due to incorrect travel documentation.
Usually improper travel documentation (passports, visas, etc) results in denied boarding
and will cause the passenger to incur substantial change fees. You may even lose the
total value of your purchased ticket.
Again... Appropriate travel documentation is the sole requirement of the passenger.
- Travel Documentation: Every traveler is
responsible for any required travel documents. Travel documents could include a valid
Picture ID, a valid passport, visas, proof of any required vaccinations, etc.
Every traveler must have a valid Picture ID to travel. International travel will always
require a valid passport. You many need additional travel documentation (visas, etc)
that are specific to your citizenship.
If you are traveling internationally we recommend that you utilize a passport service.
We've added a link on our website to A Briggs Passport Service, a very good organization.
If you start your passport/ visas process through the link, you will get specialized attention.
- Receiving Your Ticket: Once you have made
the reservation you received a booking confirmation. This is a confirmation only. This
will be followed by an electronic ticket or a paper ticket.
The airline determines whether the ticket is electronic or paper, most are now electronic.
If we can issue an electronic ticket, we will. Paper tickets will be issued only as a last
resort.
If we issue an E-ticket you will receive it, by email, within 1 business day of your
reservation. Check your spam/junk folders if you don't see it. If you still don't see it,
call us immediately.
If we issue a paper ticket you will receive a tracking email from FedEx or UPS within 1
business day of your reservation. Check your spam/junk folders if you don't see it. If
you still don't see it, call us immediately.
It is the passenger's responsibility to follow up!
- Seat Assignments: Every airline has a
different policy. Many airlines only allow seat requests at Check-In only (online or
airport). When making your reservation please enter any seat requests, we'll do our
best. You may contact us to request seats. You may also contact each specific airline
directly.
- Frequent Flyer Accrual: Again, every
airline has a different policy. Many airlines are partners with other airlines in alliances,
expanding your ability to acquire Frequent Flyer mileage. When making your reservation
please advise any Frequent Flyer numbers. We will enter your Frequent Flyer mileage
numbers into the reservation. Each airline will determine the amount of mileage they
will allow you to accrue.
** Helpful Hint: Always verify at airport check-in that the reservation reflects
your Frequent Flyer number. You never know what benefits might 'fly' your way. **
- Travel Insurance is strongly recommended to protect the
investment you've made!
Travel insurance is offered on this website.
Reservation FAQs and Jerk Advice:
Can I make a reservation
and pay you later?
Nope, sorry! We only make reservations for people that have payment ready. Use a credit card and pay
in installments.

Can I call you to make
a reservation?
Yes. Our phone number is: 866-843-5040

Can I purchase a ticket if I
live outside the United States?
Yes, but we look at these reservations closely. We are a U.S. based company. Any credit cards that do not have a U.S.
billing address must send additional information. This additional information is advised at time of booking. You can fax
the required information to us. Occasionally we may email you, please check your email.

Why did you ask for more credit card information since I live outside the U.S.?
Credit card billing addresses based outside the U.S. can be difficult to verify. In order to prevent fraudulent credit
card use we require additional information to prove you are in possession of your credit card.

Can I pay for my ticket with a Debit Card?
What a horrible idea! Debit cards should NEVER be used for any travel purchase, for many reasons.
1st... You don't have the same protections as available with credit cards.
2nd... Debit cards regularly get 'declined authorization' responses. This could cause your airfare
to increas3e while we 'sort it out'.
3rd…Debit cards are tied to your bank account. Therefore, the bank limits purchases over a certain
amount. Travel purchases are regularly flagged as fraudulent.
A Debit card is great for a trip to the grocery store but don't use your debit card for travel purchases.

How quickly is my ticket issued?
Tickets are issued within 1 business day, many times within several hours of reservation.
Your initial booking confirmation email IS NOT proof of a ticket. You will receive a separate
E-ticket, or paper ticket. It is the passenger's responsibility to verify receipt of the proper ticket.
Please check your Spam/Junk folders if you do not receive an E-ticket, or notification of paper ticket
shipment, within 24 hours. For some reason, many E-tickets are relegated to Spam/Junk folders. If
you still have not received any notification, contact us immediately. Our phone number is:
866-843-5040

Will my ticket be an E-ticket?
All airline tickets must be electronic by June 2008. Until then we can only issue an E-ticket where
the airline allows. Not all airlines allow e-ticketing, yet. We will always issue an E-ticket, if possible.
If you are traveling within the U.S. most tickets are E-tickets.
If you are traveling outside the U.S. most tickets are E-tickets. If you have multiple airlines
on one reservation, you may have a paper ticket. We will only issue a paper ticket when absolutely
necessary. The paper ticket will be shipped by FedEx or UPS to your credit card billing address.

Can I have my Paper ticket shipped to an alternate address?
Yes, you may specify alternate shipping arrangements, within the U.S. Please contact our office.
We will require your alternate address in writing, by email or fax.

What type of proof of ticket purchase will I receive?
Once the reservation is confirmed you will receive a booking confirmation. This is a confirmation only.
This will be followed by an electronic ticket or a paper ticket.
The airline determines whether the ticket is electronic or paper, most are now electronic. We will
always issue an electronic ticket if possible. Paper tickets will be issued only as a last resort.
If we issue an E-ticket you will receive it, by email, within 1 business day of your reservation.
Check your spam/junk folders if you don't see it. If you still don't see it, call us immediately.
If we issue a paper ticket you will receive a tracking email from FedEx or UPS within 1 business
day of your reservation. Check your spam/junk folders if you don't see it. If you still don't
see it, call us immediately.
It is the passengers' responsibility to ensure that you receive the e-ticket, or the paper ticket!

Can I accumulate Frequent Flyer Miles? How
do I advise my number?
Every airline has a different policy. Many airlines are joined to airline alliances, expanding
your ability to acquire Frequent Flyer mileage. Some deeply discounted tickets will not be
eligible for full mileage accrual. Airlines will credit your FF account based upon their
individual rules.
When making your reservation please advise any Frequent Flyer numbers (FF#) on any airline. We
will enter your FF# the reservation. Each airline will determine the amount of mileage they will
allow you to accrue. You may also email us to add your FF# to the reservation.
At Check-In always remember to verify that your FF # is in the record.

Can I get seat assignments?
Every airline has a different policy. Many airlines only allow seat requests at Check-In only
(online or airport). When making your reservation please enter any seat requests, we'll do our
best. You may contact us to request seats. You may also contact each specific airline directly.
If you have a Frequent Flyer number, please make sure we have entered it in the record.
This may increase your chances of received advance seat assignments.

Cancellation/ Change penalty FAQs and Jerk Advice:
What are the cancellation
penalties on the Ticket?
CANCELLATION PENALTIES: Really... you expect a specific answer to a general question?
Most airfares are NON-REFUNDABLE. Some airlines will allow exceptions for certain circumstances. Each
case is handled on a case by case basis.
Sometimes the cancellation penalty can be waived if there is a death, or hospitalization, of immediate
family member. However, you have to have PROOF of death or hospitalization. Proof of death is a copy
of the death certificate. Proof of hospitalization is usually a copy of the hospital bill showing the
dates of stay. Proof of hospitalization does not mean a scribbled Doctor's note.
You must contact us PRIOR to your scheduled flight to cancel your reservation. We will cancel your
reservation and advise the next step to follow. If our offices are closed, cancel your reservation
directly with each airline in your itinerary. Please note every date and time, and the airline
employees' name. Then contact us on the next business day so that we may advise the next steps.

What are the change penalties on the Ticket?
CHANGE PENALTIES: Again, really... you expect a specific answer to an even more
general question?
Every airline/ every airfare is different. Some airfares are non changeable. Some airfares have a
change fee higher than the actual cost of the ticket. Some airfares allow changes for a minor fee.
If you haven't started your trip... call us! We will talk to you and determine
what changes you wish to make. We will review the record and determine what the charges will be.
Many times we will take information and call you back. You must contact us PRIOR to your scheduled
flight. Total change fees could include an airline change fee, a change fee from
TheTravelJerk.com, and possible fare increases.
If you have already started your trip… call the airline!

General stuff FAQs and Jerk Advice:
What if I have lost my
E-ticket receipt that was originally emailed?
Please email us at: info@TheTravelJerk.com. Please include
your confirmation number, date of travel, and last name. We cannot resend the original E-ticket receipt.
However we can send an itinerary with ticket numbers. This will be sufficient information for the airport.

What if I lost my
paper ticket?
Oops, that's very bad. Please contact us at: 866-843-5040. Every airline has slightly different
policies. Once we look at your reservation we will advise you accordingly. The short version, you
will have to fill out forms and incur fees assessed by the airline for duplicating your ticket.
Additional restrictions may apply.

I cannot travel, but I
found a replacement. Can I change the name on my Reservation?
Sorry, no. Tickets cannot be transferred between passengers, unless they have the exact same name as
you. Seriously, you purchased an intangible commodity. You bought a ticket for a seat; you didn't
buy the actual seat.
Occasionally we can 'correct' a minor name problem on a reservation. Please contact us at:
866-843-5040.
We will advise you on the best possible approach to minimize additional costs and fees. Remember, if you
fail to show up for your scheduled flight the ticket will have NO VALUE. If you cannot travel do not
no-show! Always contact the airline(s) and keep notes of the airline representatives you speak to. You
are solely responsible for the loss of ticket value if you fail to show up for your flight.

What general stuff do I
need to know when purchasing a ticket at TheTravelJerk.com?
A non-refundable service fee of $28.00 per ticket is charged at the time of booking. This fee is
included in the booking total on your confirmation. The charge will appear on your credit card
statement as ARC Corp.
Assume most reservations/ tickets are non-refundable and non-changeable, although some exceptions
may apply.
The traveler is solely responsible for all necessary travel documentation (passports, visas, shots,
tickets).
The traveler is required to reconfirm flights directly with the airline. Failure to reconfirm your
flight could result in travel disruptions, or totally missing your flight. Any travel disruptions
are wholly the passengers' responsibility.
The traveler is required to arrive at the airport with sufficient time for check-in and any security
checkpoints. Failure to allow enough time could cause the traveler to miss their flight. Any travel
disruptions due to late airport check-in are wholly the passengers' responsibility.
If you fail to show up for your reserved flight (a No-Show) your tickets will have no value.

Why am I required to
reconfirm my flight with the airline? I already have the reservation and the ticket?
Flight reconfirmation with each airline is required, and a good habit for all airline travel.
Airlines always have schedule changes. If are aware of a schedule change, we will advise you.
What happens if you don't notice our notification? You show up for the wrong flight. Additionally,
computer systems go awry. Airlines occasionally have schedule changes yet their systems do not
notify us, therefore we cannot notify you. If you choose not to reconfirm your flight and you miss
your flight, you are totally responsible.
Remember... Better safe than sorry!

Are there
any additional charges once I have booked?
The fare quoted on your confirmation includes everything: all taxes, fuel surcharges,
and service fees. Sometimes fluctuations in currency and fuel surcharges may cause minor
changes to your total reservation cost. If the cost changes by more than $1.00, we will
contact you.
Most tickets are electronic tickets, however if a paper ticket must be issued you will
incur an additional fee to ship the ticket. Tickets are sent via FedEx or UPS. You will
be advised of the additional cost if we must send a paper ticket.
If we encounter problems issuing your ticket causing a delay your airfare could increase.
Common reasons for delays usually are related to credit card processing. Airfares are not
guaranteed until ticket issuance.

How do I
add an Infant to my reservation? What do I need to know?
Please advise our office, or the airline directly, if you are traveling with an infant.
We can add the infant's name into the reservation. Infants may / may not require a ticket.
An INFANT is 0-24 months of age for the ENTIRE travel period. An infant may sit upon the
lap of an adult passenger (a lap child) at a reduced fee. An infant may occupy a seat at a
discounted child's fare.
A CHILD is 2-11 years of age for the ENTIRE travel period. A child must occupy a seat.
Some airlines only allow 1 child discount for every adult passenger. Two children may
not occupy one seat.
An infant does not require a ticket on US domestic flights.
An infant will require a ticket for International flights, at a discounted infant rate.
We will require the infant date of birth to process this ticket.
It is always advisable to advise the airline that you are traveling with an infant.
Please advise our office, or the airline directly, if you are traveling with an infant.
Please contact our offices at: 866-843-5040 to advise.
Unfortunately, due to the variety of airline restrictions, infants cannot be booked online.
They may only be added to an existing record.

I received
my booking confirmation. Why are the taxes so high?
All travel taxes, surcharges, and service fees are included in the ticket price displayed
on our website.
U.S. Domestic flights include the domestic U.S. government percentage based taxes, fuel
surcharges, a September 11th security fee, and passenger facility charges.
International taxes include security fees, fuel surcharges, airport fees, and fees assessed
by each country. Taxes vary by airline and destination.
Taxes will fluctuate, continually. The biggest component of taxes is fuel surcharges. Just
as gasoline increases and decreases at the local gas station, so jet fuel fluctuates for the
airline. All airlines are happy to pass these additional costs on to you.
Don't get your hopes up... taxes rarely go down, only up!
